Commonwealth Ecotourism Hub
Ecotourism is responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment,
sustains the well-being of the local people,
and involves interpretation and education.
The Commonwealth Ecotourism Hub
unites conservation, communities, and sustainable travel and follows ecotourism principles:
- Minimize physical and social impact
- Generate environmental and cultural awareness
- Create positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
- Produce direct financial benefits for conservation
- Find ways to realise financial benefits for local people and private industry
- Be sensitive to host countries’ political, environmental, and social climates
- Construct low-impact facilities
- Recognise the rights and values of the Indigenous People and work in partnership with them
